Talking about personal matters can be challenging to do even when speaking with somebody that you know well. When talking to a total stranger, that can make it feel harder. If your therapist is starting to touch on something that’s difficult for you, you might want to back off on discussing it. It could be that it’s painful to consider or that you genuinely feel you don’t understand the much deeper answers that they’re searching for. It’s your therapist’s objective to help you make progress in the locations that you’re struggling with. And in order for them to do that, they require you, to be sincere with them.
